These paintings are a new experiment building upon a long-standing process in Eamiello's practice, which connects the patterns of nature with the detritus of earthly decay. The artist’s works are created by misting layers of color over a surface placed on the ground, on top of which a stratum of dry crumpled leaves has been spread; after the leaves are removed, a fractal-like abstraction remains.

For these latest iterations, he shifts in an alternate direction: the randomness of the former process gives way and Eamiello limns the ghostly forms that seem to appear in those crumpled-leaf abstractions—as one might imagine animal shapes in clouds—and creates fresh renditions. In his implementation of an alternative step, or layer, to the leaf method, one that both echoes the effects of and distinguishes itself from the initial pieces, and which circles back to corporeality and reconnects with the physicality of freehand drawing, Eamiello explores the question and challenge of what it means to carry out a translation of process
